JAMB Sets Final Deadlines for 2025/2026 Admissions Across All Institutions
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially announced the deadlines for the 2025/2026 admission cycle following the Policy Meeting on Admissions held on July 18, 2025. The meeting, chaired by the Honourable Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, outlined strict timelines for all tertiary institutions to complete and submit their admission recommendations.
Key Deadlines for 2025/2026 Admissions
JAMB has set specific deadlines for different categories of institutions to ensure a smooth and timely admission process:
- Public Universities: Must submit all first-choice admission recommendations to JAMB by September 30, 2025, and complete the entire admission process by October 31, 2025.
- Private Universities: Required to submit recommendations by October 31, 2025, and conclude admissions by November 30, 2025.
- Other Tertiary Institutions (Polytechnics, Colleges of Education, etc.): Must complete their admission processes by December 31, 2025.
These deadlines are intended to promote a structured academic calendar and ensure that all institutions adhere to a unified schedule.
Institutions Yet to Submit Admissions
Despite the clear directives and ample time provided, JAMB revealed that several institutions have not submitted any admission recommendations via the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS). This delay is particularly concerning for public universities that missed the September deadline.
JAMB emphasized that even if institutions are not ready to resume academic activities, they are still expected to process and archive their admissions to comply with the approved schedule.
Institutions Urged to Begin Admissions Immediately
The following institutions have been specifically called out by JAMB to commence their 2025 admissions without further delay:
- Northwest University, Kano
- Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil
- Kano State University of Science and Technology, Wudil
- Benue State University, Makurdi
- Abdulkadir Kure University, Minna
- Nigerian Defence Academy, Kaduna
- Emmanuel Alayande University of Education, Oyo
- Federal University of Medical and Health Sciences, Funtua
Failure to act promptly may result in unprocessed candidates being automatically transferred to other institutions for possible admission consideration.
