What is JAMB CAPS?
The Central Admission Processing System (CAPS) is an initiative by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) designed to automate and streamline the admission process into tertiary institutions in Nigeria. CAPS ensures transparency, eliminates multiple admissions, and allows candidates to monitor their admission status in real time. It also empowers institutions to select qualified candidates based on merit and available quotas.
CAPS is now the only official platform where candidates can confirm admission offers. Many institutions no longer publish admission lists on their websites or notice boards, making CAPS the definitive source for admission updates.

Steps to Accept or Reject:
- Click “Accept Admission” or “Reject Admission” on the CAPS portal.
- Alternatively, send an SMS with the word ACCEPT or REJECT to 55019 or 66019 using the phone number linked to your JAMB profile.
Candidates should note that each admission offer has a validity period of four weeks. Failure to respond within this timeframe may result in withdrawal of the offer.
Printing Your JAMB Admission Letter
After accepting your admission, it is mandatory to print your JAMB Admission Letter. This document is required for clearance, registration, and verification at your institution.
Steps to Print Admission Letter:
- Log in to the JAMB e-Facility portal.
- Click on “Print Admission Letter.”
- Make the required payment via Remita or other approved channels.
- Download and print the letter for your records.
Important Notes
- Once you accept an admission offer, you are no longer eligible for admission into any other institution for that session.
- If you reject the offer, you remain in the pool for consideration by other institutions.
- Ensure your O’Level results are uploaded to JAMB CAPS to avoid delays in admission processing.
- Regularly check CAPS for updates, especially if your status reads “Admission in Progress” or “Not Admitted.”
